The World Health Organization (WHO) names Qatar University (QU) the ‘Education City for Health’ for its vast efforts in the health sector. QU encompasses five colleges in the health field: College of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy, College of Medicine, College of Dental Medicine and most recently the College of Nursing. The five colleges fall under QU Health, the national provider of higher education in health and medicine.
QU President Dr. Hassan Al-Derham commented on the occasion saying, “Being awarded the title of the Education City for Health demonstrates the great effort that Qatar University has invested into health and well-being through outstanding cooperation with various sectors in the country. This also supports the University’s continuous efforts to provide more developmental programs to continuously improve the health of the university community, as well as the initiatives that target the health of the Qatari community in general.”
Through high quality interdisciplinary programs, QU Health colleges prepare competent graduates capable of shaping the future of healthcare in Qatar. QU has made vast contributions in research, community outreach and advancing knowledge in the health care field, addressing local and regional challenges, and contributing to the overall population in Qatar.
