Kathmandu: HE Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal Devraj Ghimire said that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Nepal adds a new chapter to the relations between the two friendly countries in all fields, including parliamentarian ties.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency , His Excellency said that this visit will be the first for HH the Amir to Nepal, adding that it will undoubtedly bring bilateral relations to new heights.
His Excellency said that the visit of His Highness will serve as an important opportunity to discuss cooperation in the fields of the economy, investment, and cultural exchange, along with enhancing bilateral parliamentary cooperation and strengthening relations between the two friendly peoples.
HE Devraj Ghimire added, “Nepal and Qatar have close ties in the areas of labor, trade, and tourism. We have close cooperation in international communities and forums.” The two countries have signed some agreements, in addition to the successful visits of senior off
icials of Nepal to Qatar including the former Prime Minister and the former President of Nepal, he said, adding: “I believe that this high-level visit will add more importance to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.” HE the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal expressed the need for increased parliamentary cooperation between the House of Representatives of Nepal and the Shura Council of Qatar, widening areas of bilateral cooperation and consolidating ties on formal and people-to-people levels.
His Excellency added that both countries have multiple mechanisms in the parliamentary field to work in areas of mutual interest and goals, such as through “Parliamentary Friendship Groups, which provide parliamentarians with a platform to discuss areas of mutual interest.” HE Devraj Ghimire said that the exchange of bilateral visits at different levels can be another avenue for exchanging mutual expertise in the areas of law-making.
His Excellency said that a robust relationship betw
een the parliaments of both countries can add another important chapter to Nepali-Qatari relations, which could be done by exploring new areas of cooperation between the House of Representatives of Nepal and the Shura Council of Qatar and addressing issues through continuous dialogue. “All that will inevitably lead to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.” In his interview with QNA, HE the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal highly commended the State of Qatars role in bringing peace and settling regional tensions, including bringing peace to Afghanistan and helping the country to develop.
HE Devraj Ghimire highly appreciated the State of Qatars effort to stop the war in Gaza and provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. His Excellency continued, “Qatar has been at the center of international diplomacy due to its efforts in favor of peace.” As for Qatars extraordinary hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, HE Speaker of
the House of Representatives of Nepal said that it is a testament of Qatar becoming a formidable economic powerhouse and its commitment towards developing the sports sector in West Asia, and the Asian continent more generally.
HE Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal Devraj Ghimire said that parliaments in Asia must cooperate on common issues and interests, adding, “We can come together and unite as a single bloc to secure the outcomes that benefit us. This is of utmost importance in dealing with pertinent issues like climate change, wars, and natural disasters.” His Excellency indicated that Nepal adopts a policy of cooperation and support for the parliaments of Asian countries in international forums, and that it will continue down that path in the future, adding that Nepal could raise common issues and cooperate in such parliamentary forums.

ions with Arab countries, given that many Arab countries are popular labor destination for Nepali workers, expressing happiness at Nepali workers contributions to the development of the region, and expressing hope that the growing Nepali community in Arab countries manifest the message of peace and prosperity in these countries.
