Spain and Norway Advocate for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza Strip

Madrid: Spain and Norway have jointly called for an end to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and for the recognition of the State of Palestine.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jos© Manuel Albares emphasized that recognizing the State of Palestine is a critical step towards ensuring lasting peace in the region. Albares highlighted the necessity for the international community to uphold fundamental values and protect human dignity in the ongoing conflict.

The Spanish government is considering the imposition of punitive measures on Israel. Albares stated the urgent need for unimpeded humanitarian aid to reach the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of enabling life-saving assistance to civilians.

Espen Barth Eide, representing Norway, stressed the significance of continued diplomatic efforts to garner wider international support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He reiterated the need for the global community to strengthen its commitment to upholding the rights of Palestinians, emphasizing that the international community’s obligations must be enhanced in the current context.
