Sabbagh: Syria condemns use of chemical weapons, rejects lies uttered by some courtiers against it

Syria condemns the use of chemical weapons at any time, in any place, by anyone and under any circumstance, and it rejects lies uttered by some courtiers against it, Syria’s permanent representative to the UN Bassam Sabbagh said.

Sabbagh, at UN Security Council session about the chemical file, said Syria is going ahead in its cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons as a commitment to the Chemical Weapons’ Convention despite its notes on the manner of the work of the Organization’s Technical Secretariat.

“The Fact-finding mission’s incorrect methods and its distancing from the essence and core of the Agreement led it once again to unprofessional conclusions that indicate another proof to the double standards policy it is following,” Ambassador Sabbagh said.

He added that it is regrettable the Syrian National Committee’s cooperation with the Technical Committee would be met with denial, not to say their concentration on the negatives, not the positives in the monthly reports.

Sabbagh called for the need to make a comprehensive review to the incorrect work methods of the Technical committee and its teams, and to ensure that the Organization not to be transformed into a tool to serve the agendas of some states against others.
