Russia to Strengthen Military Capabilities in Response to Finland’s Accession to NATO

Russia announced that it will enhance its military capabilities in the western and northwestern directions in response to Finland’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said in a statement that part of the measures have already been announced. “We will strengthen our military potential in the western and northwestern direction. In the event that the forces and resources of other NATO members are deployed in Finland, we will take additional steps to reliably ensure Russia’s military security,” he said.

Earlier, Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg announced that Finland will join the alliance, starting Tuesday. (QNA)
