Russia Threatens “Appropriate Response” to Deployment of US Missile in Japan

Russia has expressed concern over plans to deploy US intermediate-range missiles in Japan, asserting that such actions will be met with an appropriate response if they occur.

Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova stated in a press conference carried by Sputnik news agency that any potential threats to the Russian Far East, including the deployment of US intermediate-range missiles in Japan, would be answered with a suitable response from Russia.

Zakharova also expressed worry over Japan’s plans to compromise its non-nuclear weapon status, conduct exercises with strategic bombers, and potentially host US intermediate-range missiles.

She emphasized that the US, along with South Korea and Japan, should recognize that any threats to Russia’s Far Eastern borders will be countered with appropriate measures to strengthen Russia’s defense capabilities.
