QU-YSC ALL SET TO LAUNCH A NEW CYCLE OF THE DECEMBER ALADAAM INITIATIVE

Young Scientist Center at Qatar University (QU-YSC) is launching a new cycle of December Aladaam Initiative, which is a unique initiative that aims to enhance national values and identity in addition to highlighting the scientific studies and spreading the research culture.

The first cycle of this initiative started in 2020, when all events and celebrations of the National Day were transferred to the digital platforms, during the spread of the Corona virus. The initiative included participants from all colleges and departments at Qatar University to celebrate the Qatar National Day, by publishing a group of short films on the social media and you tube channels during the month of December.

As a result of the successes achieved during the first edition, the center issued a second version in 2021, as its objectives expanded to include highlighting the research projects at Qatar University related to the Qatari environment and culture. In continuation to achieving the strategy of excellence in community participation and creating a spirit of cooperation and participation among university employees, students and graduates, preparations have started for the launch of the third edition of the initiative for year 2022.

December Aladaam Initiative for this year tends to present the studies and scientific researches originating from Qatar University that is related to innovation and sustainability in the sports field and Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 World Cup. It also focuses on presenting the scientific contributions made by Qatar University in an effort to provide a distinctive football experience and to guarantee comfort and safety for the fans from different countries during the World Cup. The first stages of preparation for the initiative began by coordinating with colleges, departments and research centers to submit their research proposals, in order to be displayed in the form of short films. The proposals include variable topics in the fields of engineering, transportation, medicine and technology.

Prof. Noora Al-Thani, Director of QUYSC, said in her speech: “In the center, we are always keen to spread the culture of scientific research and highlight the role of Qatar University in developing researches and scientific studies. This is to achieve the goals and objectives of the university and support the research priorities of the State of Qatar and Qatar National Vision 2030. Therefore, we dedicate our efforts every year to launch December Aladaam initiative, which will highlight research projects for all university departments and develop a spirit of loyalty and pride of the national identity.”
