QU-HEALTH ORGANIZES THE FIRST ANNUAL MEET AND GREET FOR ITS FACULTY AND STAFF

QU-HEALTH at Qatar University organized the first annual QU Health Meet and Greet to welcome back its members and the new faculty members under the slogan: “Connect, Reflect, and Plan” as part of its preparations to welcome the new academic year on 15, August at Ibn Al- Bitar Building.

The event was attended by Prof. Asmaa Al-Thani, Vice President of Health and Medical Sciences and the Deans of QU-HEALTH colleges (College of Pharmacy, College of Health Sciences, College of Medicine, College of Dental Medicine and College of Nursing) , in addition to QU-HEALTH Directors, faculty members and staff.

Dr. Asmaa Al-Thani, Vice President of Health and Medical Sciences, welcomed the faculty and administrative staff, and praised the sector’s achievements, saying: “I would like to commend the affiliates who have achieved outstanding achievements such as academic promotions and research excellence, and outrank those who are ranked as the top 2% of researchers globally according to the Stanford ranking.”

She also praised the new member’s choice to join the work with the QU-HEALTH under the slogan “Let’s learn and work together for better health.” She emphasized on QU-HEALTH continuous endeavor to be a source of enthusiasm and perseverance in the lives of our students as new health professionals, helping them define their goals and guiding them towards opportunities.”

Some of the main achievements of the past academic year were also highlighted, including the establishment of the joint clinical academic steering committee that coordinates between QU-HEALTH and its key stakeholders in the health sector in Qatar. In addition, the completion of work on the functional structure of QU-HEALTH, the launch of the College of Nursing, working on completing the procedures for appointing the Assistant Vice President for Clinical Affairs, and the new Dean of the College of Nursing.

Dr. Asmaa Al Thani mentioned the strategic goals of QU-Health, which focus on the quality of health professions education, the integration of education and research, the university campus, the university hospital, and the branding of QU-Health. She affirmed her confidence that the faculty and administrative staff will do their utmost to support QU-Health to achieve the desired goals.

The objectives of the orientation is to shed light on the programs and academic achievements of the five colleges of QU-HEALTH and its offices such as Academic Quality Assurance Department, Strategy Program Development Office, Research & Graduate Studies, the Office of Clinical Operations and Engagement. In addition to the programs of Continuous Professional Development of Health Professionals and the Interprofessional Education, program.

Dr. Alla El-Awaisi, Director of Clinical Operations and engagement said, “This orientation is organized annually for all faculty members and staff, to get updated about QU-Health colleges, offices and various programs, in addition to introducing the academic projects and initiatives that the sector intends to undertake during the academic year.” She added that the meeting was also an opportunity to communicate with the new members through the presentations and discussions that took place, pointing out those 35 new members joined QU-Health.

It is noteworthy QU-Health is one of the largest academic health clusters in the region. It includes five colleges under one umbrella: the College of Health Sciences, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Medicine, the College of Dental medicine and the new College of Nursing.
