The QU Health at Qatar University which includes the (colleges of Medicine, Health Sciences, Pharmacy and the College of Dental medicine) organized a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the blood bank center of Hamad Medical Corporation, on Wednesday, 10th of November 2021, under the title: Save a Life, Donate Blood.
The aim of the campaign is to facilitate the participation of university members, male and female students and faculty members who have great awareness of the importance of blood donation and encourage them to support such steps. QU-HEALTH is also committed for organizing blood donation campaigns periodically because of the importance of supporting health care system efforts in Qatar and strengthening the role of Qatar University in the service of society. Blood donation is a noble way to serve humanity, especially for those who are in urgent need of blood.
Donating blood is a religious duty and ongoing charity for the able-bodied, which is an easy and safe process, which will protect the donor from heart attacks and high blood pressure. It also contributes to ensuring the health of the donor and the detection of the diseases he carries by conducting tests on a sample of blood that is performed for him before the donation. The Almighty said: “Whoever revives it is as if it has revived all people.”
281 of students, employees and academics at Qatar University participated in the campaign, as the number of female and male donors reached 103 donors in this campaign, as well as awareness publications on blood donation and its benefits were distributed. The campaign witnessed a large number of attendees from students, stuff and academics at Qatar University.
Ms. Muneera Al Ansari, Manager of Communication and Outreach at QU-HEALTH added:” Donating blood is one of the ways to maintain your health, as it stimulates production of new blood and the blood circulation, and the blood you donate plays acritical role in people’s lives, it dose save lives in many cases, so we strongly encourage our dear students to participate in these campaigns and for those who missed the chance in participating can always go to blood donor center at Hamad medical corporation, and as Allah Almighty said in Qur’an : {And whoever revives it is as if it revived all people}. “
