QU Announces Admission of 622 Students to Postgraduate Programs

Qatar University (QU) announced that 622 male and female students have been admitted to 63 postgraduate programs offered for the next academic class of 2023.

In a statement, the QU outlined that the percentage of accepted students in PhD, Master, diploma, and postgraduate certificates from the total number of students reached 15 percent, 70 percent, 7.5 percent, and 3.5 percent respectively.

Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Eiman Mustafawi congratulated the students that have been admitted to postgraduate programs, pointing out that she is proud of seeing a new cohort of promising students joining various disciplines wishing them an academic career full of excellence, adding that she aspires to see their contributions and achievements in QU as a qualitative addition to the college community and promoting a postgraduate community that abounds with scientific excellence.

She pointed out that QU offers a broad range of services and resources to students to support them in every step they make, in pursuit of achieving their educational and research objectives through an educational environment that stimulates excellence and innovation and offers development opportunities and capacity building through working with an elite of teaching staff who are highly qualified and excelled.

Admission to the QU primarily hinges on the principle of competition among applicants. However, meeting the minimum requirements for applying for postgraduate studies does not necessarily mean that students have been accepted, but they are accepted in each academic class based on conditions announced in each separate program, Mustafawi noted.

For her part, QU’s Director of the Admission Department Lulwa Al Rubaie said the QU’s Graduate Studies office will hold an orientation meeting for all freshmen on Aug. 26 while the academic class will start on Aug. 27.

She underscored the importance of the orientation meeting for fresh students through introducing them to key information related to services and educational sources offered by the university to postgraduate students, college regulations and polices, instructions of registering the courses via the QU’s portal, as well as method of using e-mails and other electronic systems that support the educational process.
