Doha: The 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit has commenced in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek. This significant gathering has attracted approximately 260 representatives from 150 media organizations, research institutions, and government agencies from across the SCO bloc.

According to Qatar News Agency, the four-day event, which will conclude on Thursday, is themed "Shanghai Spirit in the New Era: From Shared Values to Practical Cooperation." The summit aims to enhance coordination among media organizations and think tanks to tackle misinformation, generate fresh ideas and initiatives, and improve information security within the SCO framework.

Organizers have emphasized the importance of deepening academic cooperation and fostering closer ties among member states. The summit is a collaborative effort between China's Xinhua News Agency and Kyrgyzstan's Kabar National News Agency, highlighting the commitment to cooperation and shared goals within the organization.
