QRCS Expands Ramadan Aid Efforts Across Multiple Nations

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) continues its widespread implementation of the 'Keep Your Balance Of Good Deeds Alive Ramadan Campaign 1447 AH', focusing on charitable initiatives and Ramadan Iftar projects in regions severely affected by poverty and displacement.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the first ten days of Ramadan, QRCS volunteers carried out the On-the-Go Ramadan Iftar initiative at Katara Cultural Village. This initiative, supported by Lulu Hypermarket for the third consecutive year, involved distributing 350 snack meals daily to visitors and drivers during Maghreb time.

In an effort to enhance social welfare and foster solidarity among expatriate workers, QRCS distributed 21 tons of dates to 11,950 beneficiaries, including workers from various municipal departments, the Nepalese and Afghan communities, and employees from GET Company.

In Sudan, QRCS, in collaboration with the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) and Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS), launched a significant Ramadan Iftar project. This initiative aims to distribute over 11,000 food parcels to internally displaced persons (IDPs), people with disabilities (PWDs), hospital staff, and impoverished families across several states.

The QRCS office, along with Qatar's Embassy in Sudan, organized a public Ramadan Iftar banquet attended by notable figures, including Qatar's ambassador and UN representatives, benefiting 500 fasting Sudanese individuals.

In Albania, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Misnad from Qatar's Embassy participated in distributing Ramadan Iftar parcels to 500 impoverished families, reaching approximately 2,000 individuals in collaboration with the Albanian Red Cross.

Similarly, the QRCS Ramadan Iftar project in Djibouti concluded with the distribution of food parcels to 191 impoverished families, while in Niger, 2,630 food parcels were distributed to refugees and IDPs in Niamey, in cooperation with UNHCR and local NGOs.

In Yemen, the first phase of food parcel distribution reached 1,500 displaced families, social welfare institutions, and cancer patients in Sana'a, with plans to extend the distribution to 8,354 vulnerable families across multiple governorates.

QRCS's efforts have also reached Gaza, where 5,700 food parcels were distributed to displaced families, with a plan to distribute a total of 17,833 parcels. In Jordan, the Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS) completed the distribution of food coupons to 992 needy families across all governorates.
