Doha: Deposit rates at opening as issued on Tuesday by Qatar National Bank (QNB) indicate varying trends in interest rates across multiple currencies, reflecting the dynamic nature of global financial markets.

According to Qatar News Agency, the deposit rates for USD at QNB start at 3.73983% for a one-month term and rise progressively to 4.14685% for a 12-month term. This upward trend in USD deposit rates indicates a strategic approach by QNB to attract more deposits in USD over longer terms.

The Japanese Yen (JPY) shows a steady rate of 0.95000% for terms up to six months, with a slight increase to 1.37000% for a 12-month deposit. This stable rate for shorter terms could suggest a cautious approach towards JPY due to global economic conditions.

For the Swiss Franc (CHF), there's a notable increase from negative rates of -0.13000% for a one-month term to a positive rate of 0.20000% over 12 months. This shift from negative to positive rates over time might reflect changes in the Swiss economic landscape or strategic adjustments by QNB.

The British Pound (GBP) deposit rates start at 3.67000% for one month and rise to 4.51000% for a 12-month term, indicating a consistent increase in interest to incentivize longer-term deposits.

In terms of local and regional currencies, the Qatari Riyal (QAR) shows a slight decrease from 4.00000% for a one-month deposit to 3.75000% for a 12-month term. The Saudi Riyal (SAR) and Bahraini Dinar (BHD) exhibit gradual increases over longer terms, reflecting regional monetary policies and economic strategies.

The UAE Dirham (AED) shows a notable progression from 2.05000% for a one-month term to 3.15000% for a 12-month term, highlighting a significant incentive for longer-term deposits in the UAE currency.

Overall, the newly issued deposit rates by QNB provide insights into the bank's strategic positioning and response to global and regional economic conditions, aiming to balance between attracting deposits and managing financial stability in a fluctuating market.
