Qatar’s Regional and Global Leadership Highlighted in Recent Competitiveness Reports

Doha: Al-Arab newspaper has affirmed that the indicators in the State of Qatar reflect the success of its comprehensive strategic, economic, and developmental policies, as its regional and global leadership in many classifications translates into remarkable progress in the areas of security, economic competitiveness, and the investment environment. Qatar's leading performance in a number of indicators underscores its continued progress towards achieving the goals of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030. The announcement by the National Planning Council of the results of the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2026, issued by the International Institute for Management Development, highlighted Qatar's outstanding performance across various economic, business, institutional, and social indicators.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab added that Qatar ranked first regionally and globally for the balance of trade and recorded the world's lowest rates of unemployment, youth unemployment, and long-term unemployment, while maintaining one of the highest national savings rates globally. The newspaper concluded that achieving these results amidst unprecedented regional challenges confirms the strength of Qatar's foundational pillars and the effectiveness of its developmental approach.

In turn, Al-Watan newspaper highlighted Qatar's regional and global leadership in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, emphasizing the country's progress in supporting sustainable long-term economic growth. This achievement coincided with the launch of the Venture Capital (VC) Funding Module on the Invest Qatar Gateway, developed in collaboration with Qatar Investment Authority (QIA). The new offering enhances startups' access to capital and investment opportunities, marking a significant milestone in Qatar's efforts to strengthen its entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Furthermore, The Peninsula newspaper focused on the launch of the Digital Transformation Programme under the Government Scholarship Plan for the 2026/2027 academic year. This initiative represents a significant step in aligning education with the nation's future economic priorities.
