Qatar’s Leadership in Crisis Management and Economic Resilience Highlighted in Editorials

Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted two main topics in their Wednesday editorials. Among them was the telephone conversation held on Tuesday between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi. At the outset of the call, HH the Amir expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to HE the Indian Prime Minister over the victims of the explosion at an industrial facility in Ras Laffan, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of a number of Indian nationals, wishing the injured a speedy recovery, reflecting the great care Qatar, its leadership and people to residents of brotherly and friendly nations.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatari newspapers also highlighted Qatar's leading performance regionally and globally across several indicators, as reflected in the 2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook, noting that the achievement underscores the country's steady progress toward meeting the goals of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al-Sharq newspaper stated that the phone call made on Tuesday by HH the Amir to HE Indian Prime Minister, in which he expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy for the victims of the explosion that occurred in an industrial facility in Ras Laffan that resulted in the death and injury of a number of Indian citizens, and His Highness's wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured, reflects Qatar's great concern for its residents from all brotherly and friendly countries.

The newspaper noted that the competent authorities in the State of Qatar demonstrated high capability in handling the incident and its aftermath. The rapid response to the explosion was evident from the very first moments, with the immediate deployment of emergency response teams. This enabled them, in cooperation with the Civil Defense, to fully control and extinguish the fire. The injured were transferred to receive the necessary medical care, while the relevant authorities initiated procedures to investigate the circumstances of the operational incident, accurately determine its causes, and take the necessary measures in accordance with applicable legal and technical frameworks.

Al-Sharq newspaper noted that HE Prime Minister of the Republic of India commended the efforts exerted by the relevant authorities in responding to the incident and praised the support and medical care provided by the State of Qatar to the injured. He also expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to HH the Amir for his heartfelt sentiments.

Al-Sharq concluded by saying that the way the relevant authorities handled the incident confirms that the well-being of the victims and the injured is a top priority for Qatar. HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi affirmed that QatarEnergy is providing all forms of support and assistance to those affected.
