Qatar’s Diplomatic Push for US-Iran Negotiations Gains Momentum

Doha: Al-Sharq newspaper has highlighted Qatar's ongoing diplomatic efforts to support the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran. According to Qatar News Agency, these initiatives reflect Qatar's firm conviction that diplomacy, despite its challenges, remains the safest and most effective method to solve disputes and prevent further crises in the region.

Al-Sharq emphasized that Qatar supports efforts leading to de-escalation and the revival of negotiations. For Qatar, dialogue is not just a political choice but a necessity for ensuring regional security and stability, addressing contentious issues through understanding rather than confrontation. The editorial noted intensive contacts over the past two days between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and several foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, and Iran. These discussions highlight a multifaceted Qatari diplomacy that prioritizes joint coordination, bridging viewpoints, and preventing regional tensions.

Furthermore, Al-Sharq concluded that Qatari diplomacy has consistently demonstrated its capacity to communicate and build bridges with various parties, aiming to find common ground. A return to Washington-Tehran negotiations benefits not only the two parties but also the broader regional and international communities.

The English-language newspaper The Peninsula also stressed the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in avoiding a dangerous cycle of escalation. It stated that military escalation offers no sustainable solution, while dialogue provides a viable path to restoring stability and laying the foundations for lasting peace. The newspaper's editorial, titled "Dialogue and Diplomacy for Peace," highlighted Qatar's determination to keep communication channels open, emphasizing the importance of regional coordination amid rising tensions.

Additionally, Al-Arab newspaper focused on Qatar's supportive stance towards Syria's stability and sovereignty. It noted that Qatar's support aligns with a historic transformation in Syria, particularly following the lifting of US sanctions and the removal of Syria's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism. The newspaper explained that Qatar's commitment extends beyond welcoming international resolutions to practical positions supporting Syria's territorial integrity and independence.

Al-Arab emphasized Qatar's rejection of any violation of Syrian sovereignty, affirming solidarity with the Syrian government in protecting its territory and citizens. The ongoing Qatari support reflects a deep understanding that lifting sanctions is crucial for investment and trade opportunities but insufficient for true stability. True stability requires partners to build institutions, empower the economy, and strengthen national unity, free from external interference.

In conclusion, Qatar, with its experience in mediation and development support, offers a partnership model based on mutual respect and shared interests, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy as the keys to regional peace and stability.
