Qatar’s Development Under HH the Father Amir: A Legacy of Strategic Vision and Empowerment

Doha: In its editorial, Al-Arab newspaper noted that the reign of the late HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani witnessed a model that viewed development not merely as a response to the needs of the present, but as a long-term investment in the future of the State of Qatar. The newspaper added that the achievements of leaders are not measured by the number of projects completed during their years in office, but by their ability to establish enduring foundations for development that continue to serve generations for decades. This, Al-Arab said, is what the architect of modern Qatar's renaissance accomplished. HH the Father Amir set forth a comprehensive strategic vision that went beyond constructing major facilities and infrastructure to laying the foundations for a strong economy, world-class infrastructure, and modern institutions, transforming Qatar into a development model that has earned recognition at both the regional and international levels.

According to Qatar News Agency, the achievements realized during the reign of the Father Amir were not isolated projects, but rather components of an integrated vision. That vision began with maximizing the benefits of the country's natural wealth and directing its revenues toward building world-class infrastructure, creating a more diversified economy, and establishing institutions capable of keeping pace with global developments. The newspaper emphasized that Hamad International Airport, Hamad Port, Lusail City, Msheireb Downtown Doha, the Doha Metro, and the Qatar National Convention Centre are not merely urban developments. They are strategic assets that have made Qatar's economy more competitive and strengthened the country's position on the global map of trade, investment, and tourism.

Al-Arab concluded its editorial by stating that the passing years have proven that these projects were not a developmental luxury, but a strategic necessity. Today, as we see these projects efficiently serving the economy and society, we realize that a true legacy is not measured by the scale of spending, but by the lasting impact that a vision leaves on people's lives.

In turn, the Peninsula said that the passing of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, has prompted the nation to reflect on the many pillars of his remarkable legacy. Among the most enduring is his commitment to empowering women and ensuring they became active partners in Qatar's development. Under his leadership, Qatar witnessed a transformative expansion of opportunities for women in education, healthcare, business, diplomacy, science, and public service. His belief that national progress could only be achieved by harnessing the talents of all citizens laid the foundation for one of the region's notable success stories in women's advancement.

The newspaper added that the establishment and growth of world-class educational institutions, alongside policies promoting equal access to learning and professional development, enabled generations of Qatari women to excel at home and abroad. Today, women occupy influential positions across government, academia, the judiciary, finance, media, sports, and entrepreneurship, an achievement rooted in the vision championed during the Father Amir's era. The Peninsula concluded by noting that as Qatar mourns the loss of the Father Amir, it also commemorates a legacy that opened doors, inspired aspirations, and reshaped possibilities for countless women. His legacy of women's empowerment will remain a cornerstone of Qatar's progress for generations to come.

On a separate matter, Al-Sharq said that the military developments witnessed in the region over the past few hours, namely the Houthis' ballistic missile attack on southern Saudi Arabia, the targeting of two Emirati oil tankers while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, and repeated Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, represent a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region. It added that these actions undermine efforts to strengthen regional peace and stability and constitute a violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the principles of good neighborliness.

The newspaper wrote in its editorial that the State of Qatar has reaffirmed its strong condemnation and rejection of these attacks, expressing its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan in confronting this destabilizing behavior. It also reiterated its full support for all measures taken by these fraternal countries to safeguard their security, stability, sovereignty, and the safety of their citizens and residents. The newspaper added that Qatar's position remains steadfast in emphasizing the need to spare the region the consequences of unjustified attacks, while continuing to pursue dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation in a manner that promotes security and stability at both the regional and international levels. It stressed that the region as a whole faces a choice between continuing on the path of dialogue or sliding into military escalation, the latter of which, regardless of its outcome, would not serve the interests of the region or its peoples.
