Doha: The participation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit and the 1st ASEAN-GCC-China Economic Summit underscores the significant emphasis that the State of Qatar places on fostering relationships between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and China.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab newspaper highlighted Qatar’s dedication to bolstering its partnerships with the GCC and ASEAN nations, reflecting the nation’s growing connections with its Asian roots. Qatar’s involvement in Asian groups and its collaboration with regional and international organizations have strengthened over recent years. The newspaper concluded by emphasizing Qatar’s achievements in establishing robust partnerships with Asian countries, which extend beyond supporting joint ventures to promoting sustainable development and enhancing living standards in the region.
Similarly, Al-Raya newspaper reaffirmed Qatar’s eagerness to back any Gulf initiatives aimed at building constructive communication bridges with Asian neighbors, particularly ASEAN and China. The newspaper noted the participation of HH the Amir and other GCC leaders in the summits, highlighting Qatar’s strong commitment to enhancing ties with Asian counterparts. It stressed Qatar’s openness to regional collaboration and its support for strategic alliances between the GCC and Asian countries, which have gained momentum in consolidating cooperation across various domains.
In a related editorial, The Peninsula emphasized that HH the Amir’s visit to Malaysia for the summits will pave new paths for cooperation between Qatar and ASEAN states.
