Doha:The Public Works Authority, known as Ashghal, has launched a significant national project aimed at enhancing the facilities, systems, and infrastructure of Hamad General Hospital.
According to Qatar News Agency, this development is part of a national strategy designed to improve the hospital's operational readiness and safety, ensuring the delivery of high-standard medical services. The project, which is being carried out in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), is valued at approximately QR 1.179 billion and is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2027.
Eng. Ahmed Al Emadi, Acting Head of the Health Projects Section at Ashghal, stated that the project is divided into three main phases to maintain the hospital's essential operations during the upgrade. These phases involve constructing a new Day Surgery Building, modernizing the Outpatient Tower and Main Building, renovating the North and South Inpatient Towers, and upgrading various systems and infrastructure.
Hamad Al Khalifa, HMC's Head of Healthcare Facilities Development, mentioned that the project is a part of HMC's continuous efforts to update its facilities and infrastructure, aligning with the development of healthcare services and the demands of patients and visitors.
Project Engineer Eng. Maryam Al Marzouqi added that the project will include the complete overhaul of the hospital's mechanical and electrical systems, internal drainage systems, and supporting services, adhering to the latest technical and engineering standards.
