Doha: In their editorials on Thursday, Qatari newspapers discussed the ongoing efforts of the State of Qatar to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly those trapped under the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October, stressing that the State of Qatar’s priority is to achieve a ceasefire that will contribute to the release of hostages and detainees and end the suffering of innocent civilians.

The newspapers highlighted the discussions between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken regarding the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, along with the joint mediation efforts to end the war on the Strip.

Additionally, the newspapers noted the tour by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, which included Australia and New Zealand. This tour aims to enhance mutual interests, promote international cooperation
, and contribute to establishing peace and security at both the regional and global levels.

In its editorial, Al-Watan newspaper affirmed that the State of Qatar will continue its efforts to halt the bloodshed and reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The newspaper noted the recent call between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken, which took place on Wednesday. During this call, they discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the joint mediation efforts to end the war on Gaza.

Al-Watan concluded by saying that the State of Qatar’s stance throughout Al-Aqsa battle has been clear: calling for a ceasefire, ending the escalation, and restoring calm to the region. Doha has actively participated in the political and diplomatic efforts to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip and has sought to implement effective measures to halt Israeli crimes.

Similarly, the Peninsula
newspaper said that the State of Qatar has been making utmost efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, especially those trapped in Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip since October last year, adding that the priority for Qatar has been to achieve a pause in the fighting which leads to release of detainees on both sides and delivery of humanitarian aid to the population.

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a phone call with HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken to discuss the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, along with the joint mediation efforts to end the war, the newspaper noted, adding that Blinken also visited Doha on Tuesday as part of his latest visit to the region.

It pointed out that Qatar hosted talks last week aimed at bridging the gaps and overcoming obstacles in the way of a ceasefire agreement. The talks were constructive and held in a positive atmosphere, according to a joint statement issu
ed by Qatar, the US and Egypt as mediators.

In the Doha talks, the US with support from Egypt and Qatar, presented to both parties a bridging proposal that is consistent with the principles laid out by President Biden on May 31, 2024, and Security Council Resolution No. 2735. Senior officials from the three countries are due to meet again in Cairo this week with the aim to conclude the deal.

The newspaper concluded by stressing that it is time to release the hostages and detainees, begin the ceasefire, and implement this agreement.
