Qatari Newspapers Editorials

In their editorials on Tuesday, Qatari newspapers unanimously agreed that the State of Qatar is among the leading countries in global humanitarian work, noting that the State is committed to providing humanitarian and developmental aid, driven by its humanitarian and ethical role and its responsibility as an active partner in the international community.

In this context, the newspapers highlighted the global observance of World Humanitarian Day on Monday, August 19, noting that the State of Qatar remains committed to integrity, neutrality, and non-discrimination as it extends aid and support to the people of developing and disaster-stricken countries, as well as regions suffering from the devastating effects of wars and natural disasters.

In its editorial, Al-Watan said that the world celebrated World Humanitarian Day on August 19, an annual event that called this year for an end to violence against humanitarian workers and for holding perpetrators accountable, emphasizing the importance of protecting human
itarian workers and appreciating their courage, commitment, and achievements.

The newspaper added that the State of Qatar is celebrating this day as one of the leading countries in the world in the field of humanitarian and relief work, stressing that Qatari relief and development organizations play a central role in assisting affected populations in crisis areas in over 100 countries worldwide. Qatar is one of the largest donors and supporters of least-developed countries, and its efforts have made a significant impact on marginalized communities through projects spanning various humanitarian aspects, including development, health, education, and social welfare, Al-Watan said.

It concluded by asserting that all parties involved in armed conflicts, whether states or groups, should respect international humanitarian law in a manner that ensures the protection of all civilians, including humanitarian workers, and facilitates the delivery of humanitarian aid to all civilians.

In turn, Al-Sharq newspaper said
that the State of Qatar is among the leading countries in global humanitarian work. Driven by its humanitarian and ethical role and its commitment as an active partner in the international community, Qatar is dedicated to playing a pioneering role in providing humanitarian and developmental aid.

The newspaper highlighted Qatars recent notable efforts and its collaboration with several countries such as Egypt, Turkiye, Jordan, France, and the United Kingdom in facilitating aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza and the Palestinian territories, and its strong support for UNRWA.

Al-Sharq concluded by noting that the World Humanitarian Day is not only an occasion to recognize the dedication, courage, and remarkable sacrifices of humanitarian workers but also a reminder of the need to provide full protection to those who dedicate their lives to helping others, especially in light of statistics indicating that around 320 humanitarian workers have been killed, injured, or kidnapped this year.
