Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha: In their editorials Thursday, Qatari newspapers highlighted several topics, focusing on the Cabinet’s welcome of the outcome of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s state visit to the Italian Republic and HH’s official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany and HH’s fruitful discussions with leaders of the two friendly countries.

The newspapers also noted the Cabinet’s approval of a draft decision of the Minister of Commerce and Industry setting the framework of working hours in similar commercial, industrial and public establishments. The draft decision aims to enhance control and supervision over all types establishments, determine and organize working hours to ensure the availability of services and products at specific and known times, organize markets and prevent unfair competition between all types of establishments, and protect workers rights and prevent them from being exposed to unfair or stressful working conditions.

On the Arab front, the newspapers affirmed that despite internat
ional inaction, the State of Qatar continues tirelessly its efforts within the framework of joint mediation with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt and the friendly United States, in order to push the concerned parties to reach a ceasefire agreement, which would end the devastating war waged by Israel on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon.

Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that the State of Qatar has successfully built a solid strategic partnership with many Arab and Western countries, playing an active role as a strategic partner in the Middle East on various levels. Over the past decades, Qatar has established strong diplomatic relations with many countries around the world, recognizing its strategic position in the Arabian Gulf and the region, as well as its pivotal regional and international role. The Italian Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany are among the most prominent European countries building strategic bridges and close ties with Qatar in various fields.

The paper added that
the Cabinet welcomed the outcome of HH the Amir’s to the Italian Republic and HH’s official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as the fruitful discussions held by His Highness with the leaders of both friendly countries. The Cabinet affirmed that these fruitful discussions and the exchange of memorandums of understanding and cooperation reflected the depth and strength of the long-standing relationships between Qatar and both Italy and Germany, as well as the shared commitment to expanding and enhancing them, and developing strategic partnerships and mutual investments in various fields, benefiting the peoples of the three countries and contributing to achieving security, peace, and stability in the region and the world.

The newspaper pointed out that Qatar’s relations with Germany and Italy are distinguished as among the strongest and deepest, given the close strategic cooperation in various economic sectors, infrastructure projects, energy, and others.

In conclusion, Al-Raya noted the Cabin
et’s praise for HH the Amir’s speech at the First Gulf Cooperation Council-European Union Summit, held at the EU headquarters in Brussels on Oct. 16, 2024, pointing out that the joint statement of the summit reflected the visions included in HH the Amir’s speech on the necessity of enhancing cooperation, dialogue and coordination between the GCC and the European Union, in light of the security, political and economic dangers and challenges facing the world; and the positions emphasized by His Highness towards regional and international issues, especially the destructive war that Israel has been waging on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon.

In turn, Al-Sharq daily said that the developments in Gaza, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon were at the top of the agenda of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani during his talks with the leaders of Italy and Germany. There was an emphasis on intensifying diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire and de-escalate the situation in the Middle East,
as well as the importance of a two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and achieve lasting peace in the region.

The paper added that the Israeli occupation army continues its genocide and forced displacement through the brutal targeting of innocent civilians and the systematic destruction of towns, schools, shelters, and hospitals while people inside, imposing famine on the survivors trapped inside Gaza by preventing the entry of food, water, fuel, and medicine. Meanwhile, international inaction and the failure of the international community, led by the UN Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in stopping the genocide against the Palestinian people, and to take necessary practical steps to implement international resolutions for an immediate end to the war, continue.

Al-Sharq concluded by saying that despite international inaction, the State of Qatar continues its efforts within the framework of joint mediation with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt and the friendly United S
tates to push the concerned parties toward reaching a ceasefire agreement, ending the devastating war waged by Israel on Palestinian and Lebanese territories, and facilitating a deal for the exchange of hostages held in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons.
