Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha: In their editorials on Thursday, Qatari newspapers praised the official talks held by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, which reflected the mutual desire of the two countries to continue strengthening their constructive cooperation at all levels.

The newspapers noted that the Qatari-Iranian talks addressed the challenging and delicate circumstances facing the region, especially in light of the ongoing aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, adding that Qatar calls on the international community to compel the Israeli entity to halt its aggression on Gaza, stressing that mediation and dialogue are the best ways to resolve all disputes.

The newspapers also noted the opening of the Third Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit on Thursday morning under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani under the theme ‘Sports Diplomacy’. A number of Their Excellencies and Highnesses heads of state and government, deleg
ations from fraternal and friendly countries, and senior officials will be attending the Summit, the newspapers said, adding that the Forum aims to enhance Asia’s strengths and boost the continent’s competitiveness by maximizing the diversity and rich resources it possesses.

Al-Sharq said in its editorial that the official talks held by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian reflected the mutual desire of the two countries to continue strengthening their constructive cooperation at all levels and explore potential collaboration in trade and economic fields, thereby enhancing mutual interests and good neighborliness for the benefit of both peoples.

The newspaper pointed out that the talks between HH the Amir and HE the Iranian President came amid the ongoing genocide being perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces against the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the aggression against Lebanon. This situation has p
laced the entire region on the brink of disaster and the verge of a comprehensive regional war, a scenario that Qatar has warned against since the onset of Israeli aggression on Gaza in October last year, Al-Sharq added.

It explained that de-escalation, as emphasized by HH the Amir, begins with the occupation army halting its unjust war against Gaza and the West Bank, as well as its aggression against Lebanon. This necessitates urgent action from the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities and compel them to stop their brutal aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.

The newspaper concluded its editorial by emphasizing that the State of Qatar continues its diligent efforts to stop the war in Gaza and secure the release of hostages and detainees, recognizing that the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the key to a lasting and sustainable peace in the region.

In turn, Al-Watan n
ewspaper said that the talks between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian came at a difficult time for the region due to the Israeli assaults on the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon, which foreshadow consequences that will affect international peace and security and place the region on the brink of disaster. This is still avoidable if the international community assumes its responsibilities and compels Israel to cease its aggression, the newspaper pointed out.

Al-Watan highlighted what HH the Amir said during the joint press conference with the Iranian President, where he warned of the dangers of the current situation, stressing that an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the key to sustainable peace.

The newspaper concluded its editorial by urging the international community to take responsibility, warning against the inaction that is both unju
stifiable and unacceptable in light of the current repercussions threatening international peace and security.
