Qatari newspapers highlighted an array of topics on Wednesday, most notably HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s official visit to Canada and his meeting with HE Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.

In their editorials, the Qatari dailies underlined that HH the Amir’s visit to Canada inaugurates a new phase in the bilateral relations which have seen a remarkable development in recent years.

In another context, the newspapers emphasized the strategic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United Nations, pointing out Qatar’s full adherence to its international roles through supporting the UN development programs and the efforts to achieve sustainable development in poor and least developed countries, based on its belief that addressing global challenges requires collective cooperation and urgent and sustainable interventions in order to support the resilience of countries and societies in the face of development difficulties.

Locally, the newspapers noted the continued efforts to study
the Qatari labor market and determine its needs of trained and qualified national competencies in the field of drafting legislation and analyzing policies in the legal departments of government agencies, through the “Sadara” program which was developed to enhance the capabilities of Qatari cadres working in policy analysis and drafting legislation within government legal departments, in accordance with the laws of the country.

In its editorial entitled “Qatar and Canada.. Keenness on Boosting Partnership,” Al-Sharq said HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s official visit to Canada and his meeting with HE Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau inaugurates a new phase in the bilateral relations which have seen a remarkable development in recent years.

HH the Amir’s visit, and the discussions that will take place with the Canadian Prime Minister and senior Canadian officials and parliamentarians, are expected to contribute to promoting the relations between the two friendly countries and peoples to t
he level of strategic partnership, in addition to enhancing joint cooperation and coordination in addressing regional and international crises, Al-Sharq said.

The paper stressed the significance of the visit as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and Canada, and comes amidst critical circumstances that the Middle East and the world, noting the expected outcome of the visit in light of the shared keenness to culminate the growing bilateral relations across various political, economic, educational, health and military fields over the past ten years, which is reflected in the continuous coordination and communication between HH the Amir and the Canadian Prime Minister, and their keenness to consolidate the partnership between the two countries and push it to the highest levels of partnership.

HH the Amir’s visit to Canada will be an important milestone in the history of Qatari-Canadian relations. HH the Amir is the first Gulf leader to
visit Canada in at least 30 years, which confirms the strong will to enhance partnership, cooperation and close alliance with Canada in all fields, Al-Sharq concluded.

Meanwhile, Al-Arab said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s visit to Canada is a new start for the relations between the two countries, which have seen great development over the past years to reach the level of a solid partnership.

Al-Arab stressed the importance of HH the Amir’s visit in light of the critical circumstances that the Middle East and the world, in addition to the fact that it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Canada. The visit also culminates a journey of growing relations in various political, economic, educational, health and military fields over the past ten years which witnessed continuous coordination between the leaderships of the two countries, the paper added.

The visit aims to develop Qatar’s relations with Canada which enjoys growing imp
ortance and role internationally, and is scheduled to chair the Group of Seven (G7) next year. Canada is the second largest country in the world in terms of area, and the fourth in terms of the abundance of natural resources and oil exports. It has the third largest reserves of oil resources according to Canadian estimates. The country has been named the food basket of the world due to the abundance of its agricultural production, in addition to its development in the field of scientific research and advanced industries in various fields, Al-Arab concluded.
