In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper said that the State of Qatar considers advancing the status of women a priority of its policy, based on its firm belief in the importance of promoting women’s human rights and enhancing their equal participation in the country’s sustainable development efforts, in line with its National Vision 2030.
The newspaper pointed out that Qatar supports efforts aimed at enhancing women’s political and economic participation in conflict zones and post-conflict reconstruction, based on its belief in the necessity of supporting women to achieve peace and economic growth and overcome social and economic challenges.
It stressed that the State of Qatar works on the peaceful settlement of conflicts and disputes, and believes that women’s participation in making, preserving, building and sustaining peace is vital and a prerequisite for the success of these efforts. The State of Qatar’s strategy is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 through a firm belief in the necessity o
f strengthening and addressing barriers that prevent women’s political and economic participation in conflicts and reconstruction.
Al-Raya concluded by saying that Qatar considers the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda to be among its priorities in the context of its comprehensive policies at the national and international levels, noting that women exercise their rights fully and constructively in Qatar, which works effectively to coordinate with international partners to highlight the centrality of women’s rights, as in Islamic law. Qatar also works alongside the international community to support efforts aimed at enhancing the role of women in peace and security, and to advance the plan related to women, peace and security, which is considered indispensable as part of achieving the Sustainable Development Plan 2030. The State is also working to prioritize the involvement of women in peace-building processes, as empowering women can achieve this.
