For its part, English newspaper, The Peninsula, hailed the relationship between Qatar and Canada that spans over five decades. This longstanding partnership is rooted in mutual respect and shared interests, fostering cooperation across various sectors and producing contributions that benefit the people of the two countries.

In its editorial titled “Longstanding Partnership,” The Peninsula said that the recent visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Canada highlights the growing commitment to strengthening multi-faceted cooperation between the two nations. This historic visit reaffirms both countries dedication to deepening their strategic partnership in areas such as energy, education, trade and natural resources.

Bilateral trade has seen promising growth, with the trade balance rising to QR1.358bn in 2023, up from QR620m in 2021. Both nations continue to advance investment cooperation, particularly in energy, technology, healthcare, and defense, with Canadian companies playing a pivotal rol
e in Qatars infrastructure development, The Peninsula added.

The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the State of Qatar and Canada have close relations based on understanding and upholding values from humanitarian perspectives in various fields, especially cultural ones.

In another matter, under the headline “Qatar and the United Nations… Solid Strategic Partnership,” Al-Raya said that Qatar’s membership in the United Nations for more than 50 years has made it one of the organization’s biggest supporters. There is no doubt that Qatar’s cooperation with the UN has brought about positive change in the world, through the initiatives Qatar has presented globally, as well as through its support for UN efforts for over half a century.

Qatar has crowned its strategic partnership and dynamic relations with the United Nations by hosting the UN House in Doha, which stands as a testament to a rich history and shining milestones of joint efforts in building peace, promoting development, and addressing g
lobal challenges, the newspaper added.

Al-Raya concluded by saying that the State of Qatar continues to prove its worthiness of the growing international trust in the important roles it plays in reinforcing global solidarity and cooperation, and supporting multilateral international efforts. Qatar has not been absent from the international decision-making process; rather, it has been influential through its positive engagement with regional and global issues. Additionally, Qatar maintains an active presence in humanitarian, relief, and development efforts.

On the local front, under the headline “Development and Growth,” Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that Qatar National Vision 2030 anticipates developmental horizons through four main pillars, the most prominent of which is human development. This involves nurturing and developing Qatar’s population to enable them to build a prosperous society. The localization of jobs is central to this, whether in the public or private sectors, through quality in
vestments and the creation of employment and training opportunities for Qatari men, women, and children of Qatari mothers. Additionally, the Third National Development Strategy aims to bring about a fundamental shift towards a more productive labor market, focusing on jobs that require high-level skills. This will be achieved by relying on a talent pool of highly skilled Qatari individuals.

The State of Qatar spares no effort in providing training and qualification opportunities across all sectors. The announcement by the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau regarding the launch of the first edition of the “Sadara” program, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Justice, and the Qatar Finance and Business Academy, is part of the bureau’s efforts to support job localization in the state’s legal affairs departments. It also aims to empower and train Qatari talents, ensuring that the needs of government entities for qualified personnel are met and t
hat a skilled workforce is available, the newspaper noted.

Al-Watan concluded by saying that ‘Sadara’ program reflects ongoing efforts to study the Qatari labor market and determine its needs for trained and qualified national competencies in the field of drafting legislation and analyzing policies in the legal departments of government agencies. The program is designed to develop the Qatari youth’s capabilities in policy analysis and drafting legislation within government legal departments in accordance with the country’s laws, in addition to developing the skills of people with promising talents who are seeking job opportunities in the field of law.
