For its part, Al Sharq newspaper considered that the election of Qatar as the co-chair of the Technical Assistance and Applications Team of the Middle East North Africa Financial Action Task Force, for two years, is a new testimony to the international community's confidence in the national authorities concerned with combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
In its editorial on Saturday titled "Qatar has the confidence of the international community," the newspaper indicated that Qatar is a founding member of the Middle East North Africa Financial Action Task Force, as the issue of combating money laundering and terrorist financing receives great attention from the competent authorities in the State of Qatar, especially the National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Committee (NAMLC).
The paper added that the confidence gained by the State of Qatar in this regard came from its pioneering regionally and globally in combating illicit financing, protecting the integrity and stability of the financial system by implementing effective preventive measures to deter any exploitation of its systems, enhancing transparency to detect any suspicious activity, and improving the capabilities of enforcement, investigation, and prosecutions, which strengthened the country's position as a regional and global financial center.
Choosing Qatar to co-chair the Technical Assistance and Applications Team of the Middle East North Africa Financial Action Task Force, reflects not only confidence in Qatars efforts, its national strategy, and its strong commitment to combating money laundering, financing terrorism, and financing proliferation, but also the fruitful cooperation of the concerned authorities in Qatar with regional and international counterpart to unify efforts to combat money laundering, Al Sharq said.
On the Arab issue, Al Watan newspaper said in its editorial on Saturday titled "Occupation crimes," that the Israeli occupation authority believes that the world is sufficiently preoccupied to be able to focus on its brutal practices against the Palestinian people and believes that all international conditions are conducive to the continuation of these criminal policies, including the Judaization of Jerusalem and large parts of the West Bank, so that the Palestinians are left with nothing but submission, surrender, and acceptance of limited self-rule, far from the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders.
The newspaper held the international community responsible for finding a solution for the repeated violations and crimes of the occupation.
