Qatari Clubs Announce European Training Camps for Preseason Preparations

Doha: Qatari clubs have initiated their preparations for the 2026-27 season with domestic training sessions, gearing up for overseas preseason camps scheduled in several European countries during July and August.According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatar Stars League recently announced the fixture list for the new season, set to begin on August 20. This announcement allowed clubs to finalize their preseason plans, with players and coaching staffs reporting back to their clubs at the beginning of July. They have undergone mandatory comprehensive medical examinations at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital to assess their physical and medical readiness.The medical examinations include cardiac and respiratory screenings, muscle and joint assessments, and evaluations of fitness, body fat, and muscle mass. These tests help coaching staffs tailor individualized training programs based on the players' conditions after the summer break.Some international players who represented Qatar at the 2026 FIFA World Cup will miss the initial phase of preseason due to extended summer vacations and are expected to join their clubs' training camps later.The European overseas camps are a crucial part of clubs' preparations, with teams aiming to start the season in improved form. Coaches view these camps as essential, with intensive training sessions, tactical work, and friendly matches that allow technical staffs to evaluate performances.New signings, both domestic and foreign, will integrate with their teammates during these camps, giving younger players a chance to prove themselves before official competitions begin. The second phase of preseason preparations, starting in the second week of July, is vital for rebuilding fitness and preparing players physically and tactically for the league.Defending Qatar Stars League champion Al Sadd will hold its camp in Austria from July 13 to August 8, while Al Sailiya will also train in Austria from July 18 to August 7. Al Arabi will conduct its camp in Estepona, Spain, fr om July 19 to August 7. Al Gharafa will train in Bratislava, Slovakia, from July 16 to August 3.Al Shamal has chosen the Netherlands for its training camp, scheduled from July 18 to August 6, during which the club plans to play five friendly matches. Al Wakrah will hold its camp in Rennes, France, from mid-July until the first week of August. Qatar SC will travel to Murcia, Spain, from July 16 to July 31 for a training camp that includes several warm-up matches. Al Shahania will also train in the Netherlands from July 16 to August 8.Newly promoted Lusail SC, which secured promotion to the First Division, will have its overseas training camp in the Netherlands from July 13 to August 1, aiming to reach peak condition ahead of the new season.Other clubs are expected to announce details of their overseas camps, training programs, and friendly match schedules in the coming days as they continue to finalize their summer transfer business.
