The State of Qatar welcomed the signing by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, of a declaration of commitment to facilitate humanitarian action in order to meet the needs of civilians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, in a statement today, the State of Qatar’s hope that the declaration paves the way for a permanent and comprehensive cessation of the military conflict, and then to engage in broad negotiations in which all Sudanese political forces participate, in order to reach a comprehensive agreement and sustainable peace that achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for stability, development and prosperity.
The Ministry reaffirmed the position of the State of Qatar calling for an immediate halt to the fighting in Sudan, the exercise of maximum restraint, resorting to the voice of reason, and giving priority to public interest.
The Ministry also expressed the appreciation of the State of Qatar for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America aimed at facilitating the talks and their good efforts to end the conflict and achieve stability in Sudan.
