Qatar Underscores Belief in Solidarity, International Collective Action

The State of Qatar has reiterated its belief in the importance of solidarity and international collective action, as well as its keenness to be at the vanguard of efforts aimed at addressing wide-ranging global challenges and crises.

This came in the State of Qatar’s statement delivered by Mishal Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, the third administrative affairs researcher at the Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the Clustered Interactive Dialogue with UN Independent Expert on human rights and international solidarity, within the framework of the 56th session of the Human Rights Council.

Al Mansouri added that, in recognition of the importance of solidarity and international collective action, the State of Qatar has been keen to be at the forefront of efforts devoted to countering wide-ranging global challenges and crises and mitigating their impacts, particularly those related to health epidemics, armed conflicts, natural disasters, whether bilaterally or through the United Nations
and other international multilateral forums.

He pointed out that the State of Qatar has supported the developing countries’ endeavors to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its efforts are still ongoing in this regard.

The statement expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the efforts of the UN Independent Expert on human rights and international solidarity to endorse the statement related to the right to international solidarity, expressing hope that these efforts would further succeed.

In addition, the statement pointed out that there has been a wide diversity of forms that express solidarity with the Palestinian people in numerous territories worldwide with respect to the aggression and genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli occupation army in Gaza.

It emphasized the importance of enabling opportunities for expressing this solidarity without restrictions and measures that contradict the precepts of international law related to freedom of opinion and expression.
