Qatar to take on Bahrain in Handball Final

Jakarta, Qatar’s men’s handball team will face Bahrain in the final match of the 18th Asian Games being held in Indonesia until September 2.

Qatar team aim to secure their title in the Asian Games, especially as they beat Bahrain 33-31 in the Asian Cup final earlier this year to win the third continental title in a row.

Qatar won the Gold medal in the Asian Games held in Incheon South Korea in 2014 after a 24-21 victory over the hosting country.

The Qatari handball team reached the finals after leading the first group in the first round after three victories at the expense of Iraq (26 – 20) and Saudi Arabia (28 – 23) and Japan (24 – 18), and after beating South Korea in the semifinal (27-20).

The bronze medal secured by Bahrain in South Korea’s Incheon 2014 was the first collective team medal won in the history of their participation in the Asian Games.

Japan and South Korea will also play on the bronze medal today.
