Qatar to Host World Electronic Basketball Championship Finals at Qatar Mall

Doha: The organizing committee for the finals of the World Electronic Basketball Championship - Qatar Season 4 has unveiled the details of the tournament, which will be staged at Qatar Mall from July 3-4, 2026. This announcement was made during a press conference held at the Qatar Olympic Committee's premises by Abdullah Ali Al Mawlawi, Executive Director of the Communications and Guest Relations Committee of the Local Organizing Committee for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, and Predrag Bogosavljev, Director of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, alongside several officials.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Mawlawi emphasized that the finals of this tournament represent a milestone in Qatar's journey toward enhancing modern basketball's status and strengthening its global presence. The tournament will feature participation from eight national teams worldwide, divided into two groups. The first group includes Algeria, France, Germany, and the Philippines, while the second group consists of Qatar, the Dominican Republic, Lebanon, and Turkiye. Each team is represented by five players, totaling 40 participants.

Al Mulla further outlined that the tournament's total prize pool amounts to USD 50,000, which will be distributed across team and individual awards. The first-place winner will receive USD 20,000, the second place USD 10,000, the third place USD 6,000, and the fourth place USD 4,000. Additionally, the tournament will feature individual awards, including Best Defensive Player, Best Finals Player, and the selection of a Five-Man All-Star Team. The prize money for these categories will be USD 2,500 for both the Best Finals Player and Best Defensive Player awards, and USD 1,000 for each player selected to the All-Star Five.

Al Mawlawi concluded by highlighting that the event epitomizes sustainability in electronic basketball through talent skill refinement and the creation of a competitive environment for future generations. He commended the efforts made to ensure the tournament's success.

Bogosavljev noted that the finals hosted by Qatar serve as an ideal bridge between the traditional basketball community and the new generation of esports enthusiasts.
