Qatar Stresses Iranian Attacks Affect Children’s Rights

Geneva: The State of Qatar has strongly condemned Iran's aggressive armed attacks on its territory and other countries in the region, stating that these actions have directly impacted children's rights to life, health, education, and security. Qatar has demanded an immediate halt to these attacks.

According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was delivered by Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mansoori, Second Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar in Geneva, during his participation in an interactive dialogue with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflict. This dialogue was part of Item 3 within the framework of the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Al Mansoori emphasized Qatar's commitment to protecting children in armed conflict zones by supporting international efforts and collaborating with United Nations organizations concerned with children's welfare. This includes hosting the Analysis and Documentation Center affiliated with the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict in Doha, and providing support to implement activities aimed at safeguarding children through research, training, and technical support.

He also highlighted the role of education in child protection, mentioning that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar, in collaboration with the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, launched the first phase of a global campaign in September to protect children in armed conflict. This campaign, under the slogan "Prove It Matters," is in partnership with the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict and the UNESCO Regional Office in Doha.

Al Mansoori noted that the campaign seeks to promote peace and amplify children's voices on education and protection issues through various innovative educational activities.
