Doha: The Qatar-Sri Lanka Joint Committee on Labour held its regular meeting in Doha, co-chaired by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani and HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Arun Hemachandra. The meeting addressed the latest developments in bilateral relations in the labour sector and related matters, with a particular focus on strengthening cooperation in regulating the recruitment of workers.

According to Qatar News Agency, the two sides discussed increasing reliance on qualified and trained workers to meet the needs of Qatar's labour market, aligning with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. Both sides expressed appreciation for the strong relations between Qatar and Sri Lanka, emphasizing the importance of continuing the Joint Committee's meetings to further strengthen the strategic partnership and bilateral relations in the labour sector. They highlighted the need for closer cooperation in the period ahead.
