New York:The State of Qatar participated in a high-level ministerial event titled "Call to Action for Palestinian Children in the West Bank and Gaza," held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event saw Qatar represented by HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad. In her address, she reaffirmed Qatar's support for the initiative and reiterated the country's commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of Palestinian children. The Call to Action outlines key actions such as urging an immediate ceasefire, respecting international law, and ending grave violations against children.

She highlighted the hardships faced by children in conflict zones, referencing a UN report that detailed the barriers to safe education in the Occupied Palestinian Territory due to displacement and insecurity. The Minister emphasized the need for the international community to ensure accountability and take measures to protect children.

Qatar's efforts to alleviate suffering in the Gaza Strip were outlined, including a recent agreement with the UN to supply 1.3 million liters of fuel to support health services and humanitarian operations. She also underscored Qatar's broader commitment to supporting children worldwide through various initiatives.

Her Excellency reiterated Qatar's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, advocating for the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. She concluded by affirming Qatar's ongoing role in international efforts to support Palestinian children and others globally.
