Doha: Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has received a commendation from the UK-based Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) in the 2026 Health and Safety in the Workplace category. This recognition was announced at the CIHT Annual Awards ceremony held in London, highlighting Qatar Rail's commitment to enhancing safety practices and culture at work.

According to Qatar News Agency, the commendation underscores the success of a comprehensive programme that was executed throughout 2024 and 2025. This programme aimed to bolster workplace health and safety, safeguard employees and passengers, and instill a proactive safety culture across Qatar Rail's operations and networks.

The recognition also highlights Qatar Rail's structured approach, with health and safety being integral to annual business planning. This approach is supported by defined milestones, performance indicators, and risk management measures.

In its continuous quest for improvement, Qatar Rail updated its Zero Harm standard and initiated a three-year plan to enhance safety performance. This plan includes improved leading indicators, mental health and wellbeing initiatives, expanded training, stronger senior management engagement, and increased collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
