Doha:Minister of Public Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud has emphasized Qatar's commitment to enhancing cancer patient care by partnering with leading international centers. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday between Qatar's Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), aiming to further progress in treatment, research, and disease prevention, while maintaining high standards of patient care.

According to Qatar News Agency, the partnership aims to establish a distinguished collaboration focused on improving cancer patient care in Qatar and the region. This initiative supports scientific research and innovation development, aligning with the National Health Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.

Dr. Selwyn M. Vickers, President and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, highlighted that the partnership would bring over 140 years of clinical excellence and innovation to the region, enhancing cancer care and supporting the mission to eradicate cancer.

Scott M. Stuart, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of MSK, noted that the board prioritizes global opportunities that advance its mission. He emphasized that the partnership addresses a significant regional need and aligns with MSK's expertise and capabilities.

The MoU will facilitate cooperation in precision medicine, cancer research, and innovation, covering areas such as genomics, cell therapies, cancer vaccines, antibody-based platforms, and clinical trials. Additionally, the collaboration will leverage advanced cloud computing and artificial intelligence to enhance clinical care, research, diagnostics, and drug discovery, ultimately improving treatment options and outcomes for patients in Qatar.
