Qatar Participates in Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches

The State of Qatar participated in the Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches (IFCMA) hosted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) at its headquarters in Paris. The forum witnessed the presence of about 570 delegates from senior representatives of international organizations and more than 100 organizations’ member and non-member states.

The State of Qatar was represented in the forum by HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani.

In his opening remarks, HE Secretary-General of OECD Mathias Cormann welcomed all the participants and stressed that the IFCMA is designed to help improve the global impact of emissions reduction efforts around the world through better data and information sharing, evidence-based mutual learning, and inclusive multilateral dialogue.

The forum aims to discuss the coordination of carbon emissions mitigation policies through inventorying, classifying, and analyzing the policies and then evaluating their impact in mitigating emissions, allowing governments to estimate the progress made and best achievable practices, Cormann said, adding that the forum will also serve as a safe platform for exchanging information, learning from others, and enhancing cooperation in combating climate change.
