Qatar Participates in 2nd Tashkent International Investment Forum

The State of Qatar participated in the 2nd Tashkent International Investment Forum that was held for two days in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater headed the delegation of the State of Qatar to the forum.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry clarified that a number of senior officials at Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar Financial Centre and Investment Promotion Agency participated in the forum’s works.

On the sidelines of the event, HE President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and HE Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

During the two meetings, they discussed topics of mutual interest to enhance cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment and industry sectors, in addition to sharing viewpoints on the topics included in the forum’s agenda.

Meanwhile, HE Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater highlighted the successful economic policies laid out by the State of Qatar to support private sector, outlining the promising incentives, legislations and opportunities available in Qatar which aim to encourage investors, businessmen and business owners to invest in Qatar.

The Tashkent International Investment Forum aims to highlight the investment potential in Uzbekistan for International business and investment communities, as well as attracting foreign investment leaders, major financial and economic institutions and interested companies to tap Uzbek markets.

The 2nd edition of the forum featured the organization of a series of work sessions and roundtables on several topics, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, strengthening women’s role in the area of small and medium enterprises development, private sector investments in developing and upgrading infrastructure projects. The event also touched on the opportunities and challenges facing tourism, retail and e-commerce, in addition to the development prospects in the field of digitizing small and medium enterprises and other themes.
