Doha: HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Qatar, Ferdinand Lahnstein, emphasized that Qatar National Day (QND) on December 18 is a moment to celebrate the vision of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani and the remarkable path the country has taken since 1878.
According to Qatar News Agency, His Excellency remarked that for both Qataris and residents, the day represents pride, unity, and shared confidence in the future. The ambassador extended his warmest congratulations to the leadership, government, and people of Qatar, wishing them continued peace, prosperity, and success.
His Excellency praised Qatar’s prominent international role, especially in the field of mediation, highlighting that the country has become an important point of reference for those seeking dialogue, de-escalation, and mediation. He cited Qatar’s active diplomacy, including on Gaza and other international matters, as being recognized and appreciated globally.
The ambassador noted the impressive developments in Qatar’s economy, infrastructure, education, and culture over recent years. These achievements, he stated, are evident not only in large projects but also in the growing openness to innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation.
HE the Ambassador described the relationship between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the State of Qatar as strong and forward-looking, noting existing cooperation in energy, trade and investment, water, agriculture, labor mobility, and sports. He concluded by emphasizing the potential to deepen future partnerships in green and sustainable solutions, food security, and the transition to a low-carbon economy, supporting sustainable development in both countries.
