Qatar Invites Entries for 2026-27 GCC Environment and Wildlife Award

Doha:The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Qatar has announced that it is now accepting submissions for the 2026-27 Gulf Cooperation Council Environment and Wildlife Award.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry's statement invites participation from government and semi-government bodies, academic and research institutions, private companies, civil society organizations, and individuals. This prestigious award aims to acknowledge significant contributions to biodiversity and sustainability within the Gulf region.

Nominations for the award must be submitted by March 2027. The competition focuses on three key areas innovation and technology in biodiversity management, community involvement in biodiversity protection, and projects aimed at ecosystem restoration and rehabilitation. Participants are encouraged to specify a primary category for their projects and may also highlight any relevant secondary areas.

Entries must consist of completed projects or initiatives with measurable outcomes aligned with the award's objectives. Applicants are required to provide a separate application and nomination file for each entry, along with a video not exceeding two minutes that explains the project and its results. Additionally, submissions should include an executive summary of up to two pages and supporting documents and reports that demonstrate the environmental outcomes and practices involved.

All applications will undergo a review by the ministry before being forwarded through the approved procedures to the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for further evaluation and judging. The winners will be honored and receive their awards during the 2027 meeting of GCC ministers responsible for environmental affairs.
