Qatar: Qatar's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, in cooperation with Qatar University, has organized a national workshop on coral reef restoration as part of wider efforts to protect the country's marine ecosystems and biodiversity. The event brought together government agencies, researchers, and industry representatives to discuss the environmental threats facing coral reefs and explore scientific and practical solutions for their protection and recovery.

According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Undersecretary for Protection and Natural Reserves at the ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Latif Al Maslamani, emphasized the importance of coral reefs to Qatar's marine ecosystems. He highlighted that coral reefs support biodiversity, fish stocks, and coastal protection, making their restoration a national environmental priority linked to the sustainability of marine resources.

Qatar University's Associate Vice President for Research Centers, Dr. Mohammed Al Safran, stated that the workshop reflected the university's commitment to applied environmental research and national cooperation. He described coral reef protection as a shared responsibility requiring collaboration between academic institutions, government bodies, and industry.

Director of Wildlife Development at the ministry, Khalid Juma Al Muhannadi, noted the significant role of coral reefs in scientific research, education, and eco-tourism. He mentioned that the ministry is focusing on reef restoration programs as part of Qatar's long-term environmental goals under Qatar National Vision 2030.

Participants at the workshop stressed the necessity of stronger partnerships, wider field studies, and continued investment in scientific research and environmental innovation to protect the marine environment.
