New York:The State of Qatar, in collaboration with Jordan and the United Kingdom, convened a "Call to Action" meeting concerning the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Qatar News Agency, the State of Qatar was represented by HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi. In his address, he underscored Qatar's significant commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and its dedication to diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza. This includes advancing the comprehensive 20-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, which the Security Council endorsed in Resolution 2803.
The Minister highlighted Qatar's extensive humanitarian initiatives, which encompass providing food, essential supplies, and tents to approximately 436,000 people. Additionally, operations have resumed at the HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics.
Qatar has delivered 30 million liters of fuel to the Gaza Strip over the past three years and recently agreed with the United Nations to supply an additional 1.3 million liters to maintain medical facilities and essential services.
His Excellency stressed the importance of ensuring the rapid and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid, safeguarding health workers, medical facilities, and transport. With winter approaching, he emphasized the urgent need for shelter, clean water, and sanitation services.
Furthermore, Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with partners and the Board of Peace to meet urgent humanitarian needs and support recovery efforts, aiming for a just and lasting peace. The Minister expressed gratitude for the support extended to the "Call to Action."
