Baghdad: The State of Qatar actively participated in the second quartet Ministerial Council meeting on the Development Road Project and the Faw Port development, which commenced on Thursday in Baghdad, Iraq. HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti represented Qatar at the meeting alongside HE Minister of Transport of the Republic of Iraq Razzaq Muhaibis Al Saadawi, HE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, and HE Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkiye Abdulkadir Uraloglu.
According to Qatar News Agency, the attendees were briefed on the latest developments in road and rail infrastructure, as presented by the project consultant. The meeting concluded with the signing of a quartet ministerial statement, which included the approval of a coordinating entity to manage and govern the project’s operations. The statement also emphasized the importance of exchanging information and intensifying efforts among member states
to achieve the project’s goals. Additionally, it called for studying alternatives for railway and road links to enhance trade and economic exchanges with global partners, and to improve the transport of goods and passengers.
The Development Road, spanning 1,200 km, is designed to connect the Grand Faw Port by rail and road to Turkiye, facilitating the transportation of commodities and passengers.
