Qatar Engages in Key Customs Meetings in Brussels

Doha: The State of Qatar took part in the 64th meeting of Directors General of Customs for the North Africa, Near East, and Middle East region, as well as the 147th and 148th sessions of the Customs Cooperation Council of the World Customs Organization (WCO) held at the WCO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The delegation was led by HE Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, alongside several officials from the Authority.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings addressed multiple agenda items, including the outcomes and work of the Policy Commission. Discussions focused on matters of mutual interest aimed at advancing customs operations at the regional level. The 147th and 148th sessions of the WCO Customs Cooperation Council evaluated various strategic, technical, and financial issues pertinent to customs operations.

Key topics included the Secretary-General's report on implementing the Organization's strategic plan for 2025-2026, updates on capacity-building programs, and reports from technical committees on customs policies and standards. The sessions also discussed the latest developments in enforcement, facilitation, and modern technologies, alongside elections for regional representation within the Organization's subsidiary bodies.

Qatar's involvement, through the General Authority of Customs, highlights its dedication to enhancing cooperation and coordination with both regional and international customs administrations. This participation reflects Qatar's commitment to staying updated with global customs developments and contributing to the advancement of customs systems, supporting the objectives of the World Customs Organization.
