Qatar Engages in ISO Annual Meeting in Paris

Paris:The State of Qatar, through the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology, took part in the annual meeting of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) held in Paris. The event saw participation from representatives of national standards bodies, international organizations, and experts worldwide, focusing on the theme "Building trust in a changing world."

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by Eng. Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Hamad Al Mana, Chairman of the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology. Qatar's involvement is part of its ongoing membership in ISO and reflects its commitment to enhancing its role and contributions in the realm of international standardization, as well as exchanging expertise with other member countries.

The organization also contributed to the 60th meeting of the Committee on Developing Country Matters (DEVCO). This meeting evaluated the progress of the committee's programs and initiatives, and discussed upcoming priorities, including the Developing Countries Action Plan for 2026-2030.

Discussions during the meetings focused on enhancing the role of developing countries in creating international standards, sharing expertise, and promoting successful practices to attract national talent and build diverse, sustainable communities. The aim is to support member countries' engagement in the organization's activities and their utilization of its outcomes.

The annual meeting concluded with the 48th session of the ISO General Assembly, where participants reviewed the organization's financial and strategic reports, as well as performance reports from its governance bodies. Technical outputs were also discussed, which included the introduction of the international standard ISO/UNDP 53001:2026 for the management systems of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the updated ISO 9001:2026 for quality management system requirements.
