Qatar Engages in GCC Meeting to Tackle Regional Trade Challenges

Doha:Qatar participated in the 15th Consultative Meeting of GCC Ministers of Commerce and Industry, alongside Presidents of GCC Federations and Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

According to Qatar News Agency, a delegation from Qatar Chamber, including Board Members Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani, HE Mohammed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi, and HE Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Haidar, represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.

Discussions during the meeting centered on the relationship between the public and private sectors in GCC countries amid ongoing regional crises. HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Thani, Chairman of the Federation of GCC Chambers and Chairman of Qatar Chamber, emphasized the need for Gulf integration and a robust trade and logistics system to address regional and international changes.

Sheikh Khalifa expressed gratitude to the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for its role in facilitating cooperation and coordination with the Federation. He highlighted the importance of this meeting in the context of global economic shifts and geopolitical disruptions, which pose significant challenges to supply chains and international shipping.

He noted that these circumstances require enhanced preparedness and coordination among GCC countries to protect economic interests and security. The challenges include threats to trade, maritime transport, and supply chains, which could lead to disruptions, increased costs, and trade flow redirections.

Sheikh Khalifa stated that the meeting provides a critical opportunity to foster dialogue between governments and the private sector. This dialogue aims to transform current challenges into practical policies, thereby enhancing the Gulf economy's resilience, supporting private sector competitiveness, and ensuring market security against future disruptions.

He also took pride in the achievements of Gulf cooperation, asserting that the unity of GCC countries is a source of strength and that combined efforts are vital to addressing both regional and international developments.
