Doha: The General Authority of Customs took part in the 17th meeting of the Executive Council of the Customs Union Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting was conducted virtually and was chaired by His Excellency Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, President of the General Authority of Customs and Chairman of the Union's Executive Council, with participation from senior officials representing customs authorities across GCC member states.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Customs Authority released a statement on the platform "X" indicating that the meeting covered various topics pertinent to GCC customs operations. Key discussions centered around organizing transit procedures and customs clearance in light of current developments. Additionally, the meeting focused on facilitating the flow of goods among member states, reviewing reports from technical committees and teams, and assessing progress on projects aligned with the strategic plan and operational activities of the authority.
Participants at the meeting emphasized that these periodic gatherings underscore the GCC states' commitment to bolstering customs integration. They also stressed the importance of coordinating efforts to tackle challenges in import and export operations. This collaboration aims to support intra-regional trade and improve the efficiency of the joint GCC customs system.
