Mogadishu:Qatar Charity celebrated the graduation of 162 sponsored students from Mogadishu University as part of the 2025-2026 academic year cohort.
According to Qatar News Agency, the graduates, comprising 82 men and 80 women, completed degrees in various disciplines through Qatar Charity's "Student Scholarship" program. This initiative is implemented in Somalia in partnership with Mogadishu University to expand access to education for those in need and empower them to contribute to their communities' development.
Abdulfattah Adam Moallim, Director of Qatar Charity's Somalia office, emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental aspect of the organization's development programs. He noted that the 27-year partnership with Mogadishu University has enabled many financially disadvantaged students to pursue higher education.
Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Mursal, President of Mogadishu University, commended Qatar Charity for its support, which has been instrumental in helping students achieve their academic goals. Some students sponsored by Qatar Charity were among the top graduates of the university.
Since the establishment of the program, a total of 3,842 students sponsored by Qatar Charity have graduated from Mogadishu University. Additionally, during the current academic year, 364 sponsored orphans completed secondary school, and 789 students finished intermediate school through the organization's social care and education programs across Somalia.
Qatar Charity currently sponsors 25,107 individuals in Somalia, including orphans, university students, vulnerable families, people with disabilities, and teachers.
