Doha:Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has introduced new guidelines for insurance companies, exchange houses, and financing companies to enhance financial service access for individuals with disabilities and the elderly, reinforcing its commitment to financial inclusion across the nation.
According to Qatar News Agency, these instructions align with the Third Financial Sector Strategy and the Financial Sector Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability Strategy. They build on regulatory measures introduced in 2025 to promote equal opportunities and ensure accessibility to financial services for all societal segments.
The new guidelines emphasize improving accessibility and simplifying procedures and service channels. Financial institutions are now required to increase employee awareness of the needs of disabled and elderly customers, prioritize these groups during transactions, and train staff to recognize and address signs of financial exploitation.
Additionally, the instructions mandate that branches train some customer service employees in basic sign language, enhancing their ability to assist customers with disabilities.
QCB has stated it will continue to refine its regulatory framework and promote financial inclusion and accessibility, fostering the development of a more sustainable and inclusive financial sector.
